For my A2 personal project in Photography I intend to create a portfolio of work based around the theme of isolation which will be shown through images that are both digital and printed through various dark room methods. The majority of this project will be documented on this website and a portfolio book will be the second part that will contain the images I manually make in the dark room. This will enable me to experiment with a large range of techniques to make my work as interesting and varied as possible to develop into a final image through the experimentation and contrast of digital and contemporary photography against traditional, film and dark room photography.
Within the broad theme of isolation I aim to brainstorm a series of various ideas that I could base photo shoots on to experiment with different methods of photography and to build up a portfolio of work in order to develop specific ideas to eventually reach a final image in conclusion to my personal project. I will take inspiration from various photographers to help me think of new and exciting ideas to explore as well as to expand the quality of work I produce. I really want to showcase my passion and love for photography through this project by creating a diverse, interesting and original set of images that will eventually build up to a final idea and a final set of images.
To me there are many forms of isolation: physical isolation where a person or a object has been physically separated from everything else around it, mental isolation where a person feels as if they cannot relate to anyone and they feel alone and the empty, and the lonely and forgotten side of every isolated being that is clearly shown through the upkeep or the appearance of something. I aim to explore all of these different forms of isolation in my personal project and develop even more ideas along the way to supplement my development process.
At the end of my personal project I intend to have shown experimentation with various different methods of photography and different ideas to do with my theme, taking inspiration from other famous and niche market photographers along the way. I want to use a range of different styles to showcase my experimentation and then angle my work towards a specific idea, theme and style to develop into my final image/images.
